Welcome to James C. Knowles Auction Service. We are a licensed, professional auction company located in Marshall, Illinois, serving east central Illinois and west central Indiana. Auctioneer Jim Knowles is carrying on a tradition started by his grandfather Clyde H. Knowles in 1914. James C. Knowles Auction Service specializes in all types of on-site, in-person and online auctions including estates, antiques and primitives, coins, automobile, firearms, household, farm machinery, and real estate auctions. Raised on a family farm in Clark County, Jim Knowles is involved in a livestock and grain operation in Marshall. A 1989 graduate of Western College of Auctioneering in Billings Montana, Jim began his auction business that same year at the same location where his grandfather Clyde H. Knowles conducted his auctioneering business from 1914 to 1966. Licensed in Illinois and Indiana, Jim and his wife Kris, along with their three sons are carrying on a family legacy that has served the community for over 100 years. With all of his knowledge and experience, Jim oversees a friendly and professional staff dedicated to getting the maximum results for his clients, while providing a pleasant and fun auction atmosphere for the buyers.
Kris Knowles
Kris manages the office and is the principal bookkeeper for the auction business. She is involved in all aspects of the business including coordinating the day-to-day activities at the auction building and assists clients with coordinating their pending auctions. Kris grew up in Edgar County, Illinois, and graduated from Paris High School in 1986.
Logan Knowles
Logan coordinates many of the auction business’s operations including pick-up, cataloging sales, and principal photography. He also oversees all aspects of the auction business’s internet and social media, along with coordinating all advertising and promotion activities. Logan graduated from Marshall High School in 2013 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Illinois 2017. Logan received his certification from the Missouri Auction School in 2015.
